The challenge


GE Healthcare Partners were brought into Queen’s Hospital, Romford to  improve their emergency flow and therefore their performance against the 4hr A&E standard. One area of the system that was preventing effective flow were the bed management and operational processes. There was a delay in filling beds once patients had been discharged and there were also a high number of outlying patients around the hospital.
